Shuttle Car

The shuttle car was used in tandem with the operation of the continuous miner.  These low profile vehicles were an intermediate haulage option.  Coal was loaded into the shuttle car at the face, and then transported a relatively short distance, dumped its load, and returned to repeat the cycle.  Typically shuttle cars held approximately ten tons of coal fully loaded.
