Opening May lOng Weekend

Our Tireless volunteers
Our site thrives because of the incredible dedication of our volunteers, and we are profoundly grateful for each and every one of you. It’s no exaggeration to say that our very existence has been shaped by the countless individuals who have generously given their and effort, helping us become who we are today. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment!

Past to Present...
In the late 1980s, the Crowsnest Pass Eco Trust Society began the important task of reopening the W.C.C. Bellevue #1 site to share its rich history and the story coal mining with the public. By 1990, we proudly launched the first section of the re-timbered mine for tours, guiding visitors to the fascinating Box Cribbing area. Since then, our dedicated volunteers have tirelessly worked to enhance and expand our site, allowing tours to now take you 300 meters into the mine, complete with improved lighting for visibility (though it's still dark!). Our latest upgrades focus on the final stop of the tour where we've replaced older wall sections, and we've also revitalized the exterior of our tour building by replacing the old wood and enhancing the insulation.
